Also really liked the older article about introducing kids to short stories. Just wanted to add that using writing tools also helps. I’ve been encouraging my ESL students to explore free tools, and the tools have improved their writing and comprehension skills by a significant margin. MS Word and Google Docs are also helpful–they’ve gotten very interactive when it comes to describing errors.
