Top 5 Essential Vitamins to Boost Your Immune System and Stay Healthy

HomeMindsetTop 5 Essential Vitamins to Boost Your Immune System and Stay Healthy

With the recent novel coronavirus scare, it’s more important to have a few medicines in stock. Flu medicine can help but for the most part, you’ll need supplements that can help boost your immune system.

Remember, prevention is better than cure. Instead of buying expensive antibiotics after you got sick, you should strive to prevent yourself from getting the sickness altogether. If you’re not sure about what supplements you should take and what vitamins you should look for in them, then you’re in the right place.

Here are 5 vitamins that will help boost your immune system!

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is a micronutrient that is very essential to the human body. This is because the body can’t produce the micronutrient on its own so we can only get it through.

The vitamin A that we do get from the food that we eat is usually stored in the liver until it’s required by the body.

Vitamin A helps support the replacement of skin cells and ensures that tissues are able to produce mucous and provide a barrier against infection.

Without Vitamin A, it’s possible the body has an increased risk of severe infection. Bear in mind that any kind of infection will increase the demand for vitamin A.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is arguably the most popular vitamin known to most people. It’s an antioxidant that helps protect the cells of the body from damage caused by free radicals.

Free radicals are compounds can be found in the body when the food we eat is converted to energy and in the outside environment in the form of cigarette smoke, air pollution, and ultraviolet rays.

Another importance of vitamin C is that it’s needed to create collagen, a protein required to help wounds heal. It also helps improve the absorption of iron from plant foods.

It also helps the immune system work more properly to protect the body.

Vitamin C is known to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, manage high blood pressure, protect memories, and of course, boost the immune system.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is relatively similar to Vitamin C though it’s more particularly targeted towards the immune system. Vitamin E is used for treating vitamin E deficiency. Vitamin E deficiency is rare but very obstructive when present.

Vitamin E deficiency can cause nerve and muscle damage that results in the loss of feeling in the arms and legs. It can also cause a loss of body movement control, muscle weakness and problems with vision.

Aside from that, vitamin E is needed to boost the immune system so that it can fight off bacteria and viruses. It also helps increase the radius of blood vessels in order to prevent blood clotting. Vitamin E is also an antioxidant like Vitamin C.

Vitamin E is also known to lower the chances of developing coronary heart disease and can help keep old individuals mentally alert by slowing down the decline of their mental functions.

Iron

Iron is vital for hemoglobin to function properly. Hemoglobin is a protein that is needed to transport oxygen in the blood. Aside from this it also has an important role in a variety of bodily processes.

Iron helps preserve some vital bodily functions, including gastrointestinal processes, the immune system, and body temperature regulation. In most cases, however, the benefits go unnoticed.

Having an ample amount of Iron helps facilitate enhanced athletic performance, higher energy, healthy pregnancies, and clean blood circulation.

Iron deficiency is a very dangerous thing, however. Also known as anemia, low iron levels can lead to severe fatigue, heart problems and even pregnancy complications when nothing is done to manage it. Since iron deficiency anemia affects general health more than anything else and some of its symptoms can be fatigue, weakness, paleness and chest pain.

Zinc

Zinc is another essential nutrient that your body can’t produce. You should always get a good amount of zinc to your body through your diet.

Zinc is linked to numerous processes in your body such as Gene expressions, immune functions, protein synthesis, wound healing, and so much more! It is also crucial for skin health and the 300 enzymes that aid in metabolism, digestion, nerve functions, and many other processes.

Key Takeaway

There are many kinds of vitamins and minerals that are needed by the body to function properly. Though some are more important than others, each and every one of them is still needed in ample amounts.

More importantly, you should always ensure that you can get at least the right amount of vitamins in your diet. That way, you can keep your immune system as strong as possible. You can use supplements to help add to the vitamins that you get.

Vitamins and supplements are great for building up your immune system. But in the unfortunate circumstance that you do get down with the flu, then you may need some flue medicine.

Other than that, make sure you intake the right amount of vitamins and minerals for your everyday life!
