Contrary to popular belief, climate change is different from global warming. The former refers to a broad range of unnatural global phenomena while the other is simply a major contributor. In a nutshell, global warming refers to the alarming rise of global temperature hence the name. A lot of things are being done to stop global warming and ultimately lessen the effects of climate change.
One in particular is the use of alternate energy sources like solar which was made available to people by decreasing the price of solar panels in the Philippines. Still, however, not everyone has enough financial resources to fill their homes with solar panels. For that reason, we have made this article which aims to inform people of simple and personal ways to reduce global warming!
Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle
Landfills release a ridiculous amount of methane and greenhouse gases into the air which worsens global warming. One way to get rid of non-biodegradable waste that isn’t reused or recycled is to burn them and this process releases toxic gases which negatively affect our atmosphere.
So if you want to make a positive impact on this global problem, reduce the amount of waste you have by reusing or recycling products and materials. Following the 3 R’s is sure to help reduce the number and size of landfills in the world.
Lessen Your Carbon Footprint
Everyone has their own, personal carbon footprint and this refers to the amount of carbon compounds that they emit as they perform human activities. The bigger your carbon footprint is, the more you contribute to global warming and climate change.
There are many ways to lower your carbon footprint and some examples include driving less, staying away from products that emit harmful gasses such as hairsprays, buying locally-sourced food products, and reducing meat and dairy consumption.
Limit Your Energy Consumption
You may not be capable of relying on alternative energy sources, but you have the power and ability to limit your energy consumption. You can do this by only using as much energy or electricity as you need.
If you aren’t in the room, turn off all your lights or fans. Unplug your devices when they’re done charging and, more importantly, when they’re turned off. Purchase and use energy-efficient appliances and products. Replace your incandescent bulbs with LED ones that are cheaper and longer lasting. Basically, do things that lower your energy bill. This way, not only are you saving the earth, but you’re also saving yourself from spending an unnecessary amount of money.
Plant Trees in Your Area
The reason global warming is so much worse now than it was before is that there are currently fewer trees and plants available to counter the increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Most have been cut down and replaced with high-rise condominiums and commercial buildings.
In order to remedy this existing problem, what you, as a concerned citizen, can do is plant trees in your area or anywhere you possibly can. Throughout its lifetime, a single tree can absorb approximately a ton of carbon dioxide, and that’s a good start to humanity’s fight against global warming.
Educate Other People on the Matter
Word about global warming and ways to stop it needs to spread and making that happen is one of the best things you can do next to actually doing things that reduce carbon emissions.
There are people out there who don’t believe in this phenomenon and think it’s all a ruse by the government or private companies to increase prices and sell unnecessary products. There are also those who believe that nothing else can be done to stop global warming and that we’re all just counting down to the earth’s inevitable end.
As someone who knows the truth, it is your responsibility or your honor to set these people straight and pluck out such harmful beliefs from their minds. We must continue to raise awareness about global warming, its effects, and the many ways to stop it.
Key Takeaway
You may not be able to resort to alternative power sources because of the price of solar panels in the Philippines, but there are a lot more things you can do to join the fight against global warming.
The actions or things we’ve written here may seem small but they actually have big impacts. Moreover, they can be accomplished by every individual currently existing on the planet. If you, along with everyone else, could stick by these things, then we can expect a bright future for current and succeeding generations!
