If you’re stuck at home because of coronavirus and are bored of watching Netflix and TV, perhaps it is time to pick up some new hobbies. Hobbies allow you to have an outlet to express your emotion in a healthy way as well as allow you to learn a new skill that you otherwise may not have had the time to learn.
Cooking
One skill that is incredibly beneficial to learn is cooking. If you already enjoy making meals, consider picking up new skills to add to your repertoire. The web offers a vast reservoir of recipes that you can select to learn from. You could also buy your own cookbook and begin learning from there. Begin with simple recipes. If you’ve never cooked anything before, start with learning how to toast a grilled cheese sandwich before jumping into learning how to cook a steak. Following a recipe is easy, but you will need to make sure you have the proper tools and ingredients first before you start.
Gardening
Another hobby that you can pick up while stuck at home is gardening. You may think you need a plot of land to garden, but you can actually start gardening with a few earthen pots, some soil and seeds. You can even buy seeds online! Buying your seeds online has many benefits. For example, buying your seeds online lets you buy in bulk (if you so desire) and they are shipped directly to your doorstep. Gardening also requires you to get outside for at least part of the day. Being outside will help improve your mood, which is why many find gardening to be stress relieving.
Creative Projects
Another hobby that you can pick up is any creative endeavor. These endeavors can include anything from painting, writing, to basket weaving. If you’ve always wanted to write a novel but never had the time, now is the perfect time to do so. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to paint with watercolors, again, now is the perfect time to do so. And if you get stuck, there are dozens upon dozens of tutorials and advice online that can aid you in your creative endeavor.
Being stuck at home doesn’t mean you have to be bored. With very little purchase necessary, you can start learning new hobbies to keep the boredom away and to keep your brain active and functioning.
