Whether you live in the Southwest or are planning a trip there in the near future, there are more things you can do with your family than you could ever accomplish in a lifetime!

However, if your time is limited and you aren’t sure where to best spend the time you do have, you can’t go wrong with the following tried and true crowd-pleasers!

See the Grand Canyon

If your travels will be taking you anywhere near the northwest corner of Arizona, you should definitely make Grand Canyon National Park one of your stopping points. The expansive canyon of layered red rocks is a geological wonder that can’t help but inspire your entire family.

There are fun hikes, guided river tours, horseback riding, helicopter rides, biking trails, summer ranger programs, and the famous Grand Canyon Railway train. Just be sure to make it in time for the most amazing sunset you will ever see!

Visit Southern Utah

After exploring the Grand Canyon, head on up to the vast outdoor playground that is Southern Utah. Between Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, and Lake Powel, there is something for everyone. Hike slot canyons, explore hidden coves, dig for dinosaur bones, take an electric bike tour, and experience the awe-inspiring views of this wild and rugged part of the country.

The perfect home base for all of these adventures is the bustling city of Saint George, which is nestled up against the vibrant red cliffs so typical of the area. You can also take a break from the great outdoors at one of Saint George’s many indoor venues. For example, Saint George has a dinosaur museum that young kids might love to see.

Yosemite

Yosemite National Park is famous all over the world for its steep granite cliffs, raging waterfalls, and lush river valley. No matter where you go at Yosemite National Park, you are sure to experience stunning views and magnificent vistas. However, you might want to take in Yosemite Falls, Glacier Point, the Giant Sequoias of Mariposa Grove, Half Dome, El Capitan, and Bridalveil Fall.

The Southwestern United States is home to countless attractions. You can find some of the most stunning landscapes in the country, as well as numberless amusement parks, museums, beaches, and other attractions both natural and manmade. While it’s hard to go wrong anywhere in the Southwest, the Grand Canyon, Southern Utah, and Yosemite should be on everyone’s bucket list.
